Robert Seaman Physical Education Program Physical education provides students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to acquire fitness, physical skills and leisure activities necessary to maintain healthy and satisfying lifestyles. The State of New York explains that the mission of physical education is to enable all students to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. Elementary physical education provides students with the following:

  • Integrated movement patterns in sports, rhythmic and lifelong fitness activities.
  • The acquisition of the knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic motor and manipulative skills.
  • Beginning and intermediate movement skills as they relate to physical fitness, sport and leisure.
  • Students will have knowledge of the benefits of engaging in regular physical activity.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior while engaged in physical activity.
